What is FLOSPERSE™ designed for?

Scaling occurs when dissolved ions (such as calcium, magnesium, sulfate or phosphate species) precipitate and form crystalline deposits on equipment surfaces. In mining circuits with high water recirculation and variable chemistry, scale build‑up can progressively reduce flow, foul heat exchangers, damage pumps and create unplanned downtime.

FLOSPERSE™ antiscalants act through three primary mechanisms:
Threshold inhibition, which delays precipitation;
Crystal modification, which disrupts crystal growth and weakens deposits;
Dispersancy, which keeps fine precipitates suspended and prevents them from forming scale nuclei.
This combined action helps maintain clean surfaces and protect critical water and process assets.

Where / How FLOSPERSE™ is typically used

FLOSPERSE™ is used throughout mining water circuits where variable chemistry and recycled water increase the likelihood of mineral deposits. In water‑transfer and distribution networks, it helps limit scale formation inside long pipelines exposed to fluctuating ion concentrations. In recycling loops connected to thickeners and tailings, it protects pumps, piping, and instrumentation operating under high‑solids and near‑saturation conditions.

The product also reduces the formation of deposits in heat exchangers and cooling systems, where temperature changes can trigger mineral precipitation. FLOSPERSE™ helps stabilize clarified‑water, process‑water, and utility‑water circuits by limiting the buildup of dissolved ions that drive scaling. Finally, in leaching, hydrometallurgical processing, and solvent‑extraction systems, it helps control sulfate‑, carbonate‑ and other mineral‑based deposits generated by recycled solutions, supporting consistent flow and reliable plant performance.

Scale forms when dissolved ions in process water exceed their solubility limits and crystallize on equipment surfaces. High conductivity, elevated temperatures, recirculated water and high pH all increase supersaturation and accelerate scale formation.

FLOSPERSE™ antiscalants act before precipitation occurs. They delay the saturation point, disrupt crystal growth and keep fine particles dispersed, preventing them from attaching to surfaces and forming hard deposits.
